Prehistory by experience
La Roque Saint-Christophe is a prehistoric site at Peyzac-le-Moustier, in the Dordogne (Nouvelle-Aquitaine). It offers a different way to discover prehistory, through visits, demonstrations and workshops open to everyone.
What to expect
The programme includes demonstrations of lifting machines and a look at the life of cave dwellers. The demonstrations and workshops suit families as well as school groups. The site is recommended for families, from the age of 6.
Planning your visit
The site is open all year, every day. It lies in the Vézère valley, so it fits well into a wider trip: see our Vézère valley weekend for an itinerary, and the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies for the background to what you will see.
The source gives no ticket prices or detailed timings, so check the official website before you set off.
Practical information was checked in October 2026: please confirm opening times and book on the official website before your visit.
